Robert Whitlow was born into poverty in rural Alabama in 1940. His father was a sharecropper, and his mother worked as a domestic servant. Whitlow grew up in a small, segregated community, and he faced discrimination from a young age.
Despite the challenges he faced, Whitlow was a bright and ambitious child. He excelled in school, and he dreamed of one day becoming a successful businessman. After graduating from high school, Whitlow moved to Chicago, where he worked his way through college. He eventually earned a degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
After graduating from college, Whitlow worked for several years as an accountant. In 1972, he started his own business, Whitlow Corporation. The company initially struggled, but Whitlow persevered. He eventually built Whitlow Corporation into a multi-million dollar enterprise.
Whitlow was not only a successful businessman, but he was also a generous philanthropist. He donated millions of dollars to charities and educational institutions. He also founded the Robert Whitlow Foundation, which provides scholarships to disadvantaged students.
In addition to his business and philanthropic endeavors, Whitlow was also a mentor to many young people. He shared his story with countless individuals, and he inspired them to overcome their own challenges and achieve their dreams.
